Clarity, strategy and forward momentum for Thriving Queensland Kids Partnership (2023)

Meeum was engaged by Thriving Queensland Kids Partnership (TQKP) to help define the requirements for a new standalone website that would support their growing national and state-based impact. Previously a sub-section of the Australian Research Alliance for Children & Youth (ARACY) website, TQKP needed more than just new pages. They needed a clear, purposeful digital presence that reflected their Queensland focus and acted as a central hub for collaboration and change.

What we delivered

We led TQKP through a digital discovery process that included stakeholder engagement, strategic workshops, and detailed content and technical planning. The outcome was a comprehensive set of recommendations and a well-structured Request for Proposal (RFP) that positioned TQKP for a smooth vendor selection and a successful build.

Challenges we tackled

TQKP’s existing web presence lived deep within the ARACY site. The content was hard to find, URLs were long and confusing, and their identity was lost in the process. What they needed was purpose-built. Something easy to manage, adaptable, and genuinely helpful for their audience.

The wishlist included:

  • a clear, branded domain name
  • an intuitive, drag-and-drop CMS
  • a rich resource library with filtering tools
  • news, events, social feeds and multimedia content
  • community features such as forums and directories
  • CRM and newsletter integration
  • accessibility baked in from the start

Rather than simply documenting features, we helped TQKP explore the purpose behind each one. Who would use it, how it should function, and why it mattered. That approach made sure the final site would be usable, scalable, and strategic.

What we did

Requirements workshops

We ran a series of workshops with TQKP’s team and stakeholders to:

  • clarify organisational goals and digital priorities
  • identify must-haves versus nice-to-haves
  • understand internal workflows and content needs
  • explore audience behaviours and expectations

Insights and recommendations

We compiled a detailed report that outlined:

  • functional requirements and platform considerations
  • content and audience strategy
  • accessibility and SEO expectations
  • approaches to forums, events and external integrations
  • recommendations for phased delivery where needed

This work directly informed the RFP and helped prioritise what mattered most.

RFP development

We worked with TQKP to write a clear, vendor-ready RFP. It focused on outcomes and purpose, not just functionality. This helped TQKP to:

  • communicate their vision effectively
  • invite meaningful vendor responses
  • save time during procurement

We also advised on what to leave open. Allowing suppliers to bring their own ideas and solutions often leads to better results.

Vendor selection

Once proposals came in, we supported TQKP through the selection process. We helped evaluate alignment with their needs, priorities, and values.

The result

TQKP selected a supplier who met both their technical needs and their collaborative working style. The final build delivered:

  • a dedicated website for TQKP, with its own clear identity
  • connected platforms for ARACY and Investment Dialogue for Australia’s Children (IDAC), built on the same infrastructure
  • shared backend systems that allowed cost savings without compromising quality
  • strong editorial controls and future-proof content structures

The project was delivered on time and within budget. The new digital platform gives TQKP the tools to:

  • share trusted resources with partners and communities
  • support their work as a connector and catalyst for systems change
  • represent Queensland voices in a national context
  • scale with new content, audiences, and partnerships

Why this worked

This was never just a website project. It was about setting up TQKP for long-term digital success. Our job was to help them find clarity, ask the right questions, and create a roadmap that brought everyone along.

By investing in a solid discovery and planning phase, TQKP avoided common traps and were able to move confidently through procurement and development. The result is a digital home that supports their purpose, reflects their values, and grows with them.
