Dean is a co-founder of Driveby Repairs. He recently participated in Meeum’s three-hour How To Code a Website workshop.
Driveby Repairs is a smartphone repair service based on the Gold Coast. They send a technician out to do an on the spot phone repair on-demand, saving savvy customers the hassle of taking their phone into a shop for repair.
Like many non-tech startups in the digital space, Dean’s business is heavily reliant on its web presence to drive leads and eventual sales.
“We spend a lot of time and money engaging web developers and SEO specialists, and they’re not cheap,” says Dean of his motivation for seeking to upskill.
“I wanted to understand my web development and SEO service providers’ work and have better oversight of their time, so I decided to learn the foundations of HTML and CSS,” says Dean.
Dean found Meeum by searching online. He liked the description of the How To Code a Website workshop, and was pleased to find himself speaking directly with Sam when he got in touch.
Still, he had some reservations about the course.
“I just didn’t know whether or not it would be worthwhile. Often private education institutions are good at selling the importance of their course, but leave you feeling like you have been ripped off.”
We’re happy to share that Dean feels like his investment with Meeum paid off.
Since attending How To Code a Website, he is able to understand the language of code and talk with his web developer and SEO specialist in a more knowledgeable and productive way.
“It has also helped me to appreciate the importance of maintaining a neat structure when building and editing a site and to put this into practice.”
He’s found it so useful that he thinks that all business owners should learn the basics of code.
“Good web developers and SEO specialists are not cheap. For this reason, you should look to at least have a basic idea of the work they are doing and what is involved, so you know whether you are receiving a value for money service or not.”
“Meeum is the perfect solution to learn code at your own pace, in a well-structured environment.”
Great advice Dean – we’re pleased you got so much out of your time with Meeum.
As a non-technical founder, learning the basics of coding can help you to understand and speak with coders.
