Avatar for Sam Hemphill

Now a digital veteran, Sam Hemphill initially trained as a drummer and high school teacher and spent 10 years as a touring musician and tour manager.

During that time, he found himself increasingly drawn to technology and web development, and in 2002, made the leap into what was then a brave new digital world.

He has since worked with some of the biggest names in Australia and overseas, including General Assembly, Qantas, Coles, News Limited, ANZ and Accenture.

Sam’s is a passionate voice in the subject of digital upskill, SEO, digital marketing, code, tech-fluency and empowering entrepreneurs, whether they be in the big cities or further afield and regardless of what their technical skillset or business might be.

As well as creating great digital experiences for some seriously big (and fantastic little) companies, Sam has fought the good fight for years when it comes to making the complex easily understood and promoting harmony across technical, marketing and design teams.

Through his teaching roles and work with Meeum, he has helped countless startups and founders across Australia get to grips with the technology and digital areas of their businesses, increasing their digital literacy - enabling new businesses to start and existing businesses to flourish.

Recognised as an industry Expert-in-Residence by LaunchVic in 2019, Sam and his company Meeum designed and delivered a unique upskill program for non-technical Victorian entrepreneurs.

He holds a Graduate Diploma in Creative Industries (Communication Design), Bachelor of Arts (Education), as well as qualifications in music business and sound engineering. He has also been certified by Vision Australia in Web Accessibility Techniques and Testing.

He is also a lecturer and academic consultant for the Australian College of the Arts (Collarts) and Macleay College.

With the Meeum team, Sam is also a business mentor for the Melbourne Innovation Centre and the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In 2021 Sam was selected as Digital Strategist in Residence for the Australian Council of the Arts.

Sam is available for business mentoring.
